Replenishment of body minerals after sweating
During strenuous bodywork
Sodium, potassium, magnesium and chlorine
When a horse sweats, it not only loses fluids, but also body minerals such as sodium, potassium, chlorine, calcium and magnesium. These substances play a crucial role in muscle metabolism and are called electrolytes. If lost electrolytes are not returned to the muscles, endurance will be impaired. In case of severe deficiency, dehydration and colic may occur. If a horse is unable to perform a particular task due to weakness, or feels hopeless, it may be necessary to replenish electrolytes.

H2: Pavo E´lyte: complete electrolyte supplementation.

Pavo E´lyte is an electrolyte supplement and contains all the necessary body minerals in the right ratios. Especially the ratios are important for a proper replenishment. Pavo E´lyte contains extra magnesium, because a horse loses this mineral also when it sweats and the importance of magnesium in the body process should not be underestimated. Many other electrolytes contain no magnesium, or barely the minimum of this substance. The product does not contain wheat, and is therefore suitable even for gluten-free diets.

Replenishing electrolytes in summer and winter

A horse does not only sweat in summer when it is hot. In winter, after high-intensity training or competition, it may also be necessary to replenish electrolytes. When horses are shaved, which allows sweat to dry faster, they may not appear to sweat as much. Make sure these horses are getting enough electrolytes. Lethargy is an important sign of dehydration.

FEED ADVICE PAVO E´LYTE

Horses often need to get used to the taste of electrolytes. Start with a small dose and increase it slowly. Mix Pavo E´lyte into the feed. For hard to feed horses, mixing some apple sauce or apple juice into the food can help. Alternatively, use a mouth syringe filled with applesauce and electrolytes.

Available in 3 kilogram pails with resealable lids.
