In unfamiliar or stressful situations such as transportation, treatment by a veterinarian, dentist, farrier or extreme weather, a horse may experience stress and have a strong instinct to escape. How much stress your horse experiences depends on its character, genetics and past experiences. Sometimes it is inevitable that your horse will be exposed to a stressful situation. Pavo BeChill helps reduce stress effectively and quickly (within 30 min - 2 hours) and promotes relaxation.
A stress response in the horse's body is influenced by neurotransmitters sent to and from the brain. In simple terms, these neurotransmitters can send two messages: a stress message and a relaxation message. Increased amounts of stress messages result in increased heart and breathing rates, sweating and tense muscles. When, on the other hand, the level of relaxation messages increases, heart and breathing rates return to normal and muscles become relaxed and supple. In stressful situations, the body ensures that the level of stress messages increases and relaxation messages decrease. This results in the horse becoming more alert and ready to escape, and then experiencing stress. Pavo BeChill blocks the body's mechanism for breaking down relaxation messages and limits the increase in stress messages. Pavo BeChill thus affects both messages and therefore helps to reduce stress very effectively.
The main ingredients of Pavo BeChill are lemon balm and magnesium. Lemon balm is a natural ingredient that helps reduce stress because it blocks the breakdown of relaxation messages. This means that there are more relaxation messages telling the body to keep the heart and breathing rate normal and the muscles relaxed. Lemon balm is a powerful ingredient as very low amounts already have a big effect on the stress response of the horse.
Magnesium helps to block the production of stress messages, which means that the body receives fewer signals telling the horse to increase its heart and respiratory rate, to start sweating and to tense its muscles. In addition, it has been proven that the concentration of cortisol (stress hormone) is significantly lower after feeding the horse with magnesium. Magnesium is one of the most well-known substances for stressed and nervous horses.
Pavo BeChill is suitable for all types of horses and ponies* and is suitable for various stressful (temporary) situations:
* Pavo BeChill should not be given to pregnant mares.
How to give BeChill:
Pavo BeChill can be given orally, directly into the mouth (30 min - 2 hours before the stressful situation) or via feed or water (the evening and morning before the stressful situation). Test how long it takes for your horse to take effect to know how long before you should give the dose.
