Killitch® is a licensed and proven product for the prevention and treatment of itching in horses and ponies. It is a soothing lotion with the active ingredient benzyl benzoate, specially formulated for horses. For best results, Killitch® should be used as a preventative measure in early spring, before symptoms become apparent, to prevent the condition from developing.
Apply with gloved hands to all affected areas by rubbing in with fingers or a soft cloth as soon as eczema is diagnosed and throughout the season. The initial application of Killitch® (75 ml) should be done twice daily, then reduce to once daily and then 3-4 times a week as irritations subside. Keep all affected areas clean by shampooing and rinsing thoroughly at least once a week. After shampooing or vigorous exercise, reapply to ensure adequate protection.
For horses known to suffer from summer itch, it is recommended that Killitch® is applied in early spring before symptoms become apparent, so that the condition never takes hold. Always test new products on a small area for 24 hours before full use to ensure your horse is not sensitive to any ingredient.
