Loose rings provide a direct contact with immediate concession, where the pressure on the tongue and lances ceases as soon as the rider releases the rein and the bit takes a neutral position in the horse's mouth.
The Lock Up mouthpiece prevents the nutcracker effect of standard split bits, reducing pressure on the lances. The Lock Up is therefore gentler than a standard split bit, but it still puts pressure on the tongue and lances when shortening the reins.
Bombers bits are made in South Africa and are completely handmade, giving you the unique opportunity to choose how every little detail of the bit is designed. You can choose the type of mouthpiece you want, the type of rings/shackles, the thickness of the bit and whether you want different lengths on the right and left sides of the mouthpieces. The mouthpieces are made of sweet iron and brass and are shaped to distribute the pressure over a larger surface, rings/handles are made of stainless steel.
